Summer Jewellery Trends: Colour Coordination
The days are getting longer, the flowers are blooming and the sun’s been shining bright. This means one thing – summer is well and truly on the way!
From the barbecues to the beach holidays, summer often means more family gatherings and regular social events. Regardless of whether you’re preparing for a professional work event or simply getting ready to meet up with some mates, it’s important to ensure your outfit is on point.
In summer 2019, the finer details will make all the difference. Wearing a heavy gold chain and designer clothing is usually enough to stand out from the crowd, but taking the time to research and experiment with the latest style trends will really go a long way.
So, what are some of the popular jewellery trends this summer?
When it comes to fashion, one of the most popular trends of the last ten years has been colour co-ordination. Let’s say you’re wearing blue trainers – colour co-ordination is where you include subtle hints of blue throughout the rest of your outfit.
This also works with jewellery; if you’re wearing a yellow gold watch, then it makes sense to ensure the rest of the jewellery that you’re wearing is yellow gold too. There’s nothing wrong with wearing multiple types of metal at the same time – we’ve seen many people pull it off before. But, having a consistent finish across all your jewellery will make your outfit seem far more intentional and well-thought-out. Particularly in the summer, wearing all-yellow gold really helps to reflect light and draw people’s eyes to your outfit.
Complete The Look With Gemstones
Following on from the last point, another popular jewellery trend for summer 2019 is using gemstones to match the colours of the rest of your outfit. With over 200 different types of gemstones in the world, there’s a gemstone for almost every colour that you can imagine, from the vibrant purple of amethyst and the royal red of rubies to the sky blue of topaz and the lime green of peridot.
You could also use gemstones to compliment the rest of your outfit, even if the colours don’t actually match; colours on opposite sides of the colour wheel tend to go really well together. An example of this is purple and yellow, but other popular colour combinations include blue and orange, red and green, or teal and orange.
Wear The Right Type Of Jewellery For Your Outfit
As different styles of jewellery tend to be more suitable for different attire, it’s so important to select your jewellery based on the rest of your outfit. There are countless factors to consider with this, such as your gender, the occasion that you’re wearing the outfit for, the material of your outfit, the colour of your outfit and so on. For example, if you’re a man wearing a black tuxedo to a dinner event then suitable jewellery could include a watch and a signet ring. However, if you’re a man wearing casual clothes to meet a friend for lunch, then more suitable jewellery could include a gold chain, a bracelet and a pair of earrings.
Don’t be scared to go into more detail with this too; even within each main jewellery group there are a ton of different individual styles. An example of this is with gold chains – belcher chains, curb chains and rope chains are just a handful of the different styles within this group of jewellery. Considering these different individual styles and how they would fit in with your outfit can also have a surprisingly powerful impact on your overall look. For example, diamond drop earrings are far more suitable for formal events and special occasions than stud earrings. However, diamond drop earrings don’t tend to be very suitable for casual everyday wear, whereas stud earrings are perfect for this.
All in all, the summer jewellery trends for 2019 focus around more considered, well-thought-out outfits, elegantly intertwining your jewellery with the rest of your attire.
