1846 Queen Victoria Full Gold Sovereign – Young Head, Shield Back – Circulated

A genuine 1846 Queen Victoria full gold sovereign, struck during the early Victorian era and featuring the iconic Young Head portrait of Queen Victoria on the obverse. The portrait is surrounded by the Latin legend “VICTORIA DEI GRATIA”, meaning Victoria by the Grace of God.
The reverse displays the classic Royal Shield design beneath a crown, framed by a wreath and the inscription “BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF:” (Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith). This attractive shield-back design was used on sovereigns minted between 1838 and 1874, making these coins particularly sought after by collectors.
This example is a full sovereign and circulated, showing natural wear consistent with age and use while still retaining clear design details on both sides. Coins like this represent an important piece of 19th-century British history as well as a valuable gold coin.
Struck in 22ct gold, sovereigns are internationally recognised for both their historic significance and intrinsic gold value.
